Conficker Worm.. Again?!

Posted by Steve On March - 29 - 2009

Beware Conficker worm come April 1

I first heard about this in January as patches came out.  Shortly after that I had some problems with Vista again and fiquring that it was close to six months since I had done a clean install it seemed to be time.  The process takes some time and you should be wary of which patches are installed at least my experience is that they don’t all mesh if you let it go and update itself. Especially when getting the SP1 release to function this time.  So five hours later I am back up and running.

If everyone were to just do the clean install and update it shouldn’t be a problem but at the very least these security patches are necessary evils and should be kept up with.  I at one time was hell bent against it turned off all updates. No not allowed but then if you just let it go leave the computer on overnight it wn’t even disturb you.  Security is everyone’s responsibility and should be taken care of.

Now to the point:

Why if this worm has been going around since 2008 are people just now doing the write ups.  They say the code calls for Apr 1st deployment and more than 9 million infected it is either gonna be one hell of a blow up or nothing at all. tell you this my computer will be off that day.  If you mind the computer with the respect it deserves you won’t have the problems that can be.

Take the time to update find a good anti-virus and just be mindful of what is going on in the technical world of computers.  These things are not just for you but the community at large. Check out Security Now netcast for more information and up to date computer security information.  Stay informed.

Dollhouse Episode 7

Posted by Steve On March - 28 - 2009

[Spoiler] First let me say WOW it is now at the turn the background is over and we finally get into the real meat of the story.  In my opinion they could have fed us the first five episodes as flashbacks throughout the first season. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed them but having seen six and seven and it is going to be a totally different show.  The first five could have worked better in a full series but I don’t know maybe it is me. You can watch these episodes here on Hulu.  The new episode isn’t there yet but should be up in the next day or so.

dollhouse

I am excited to see that we are at the boiling point and next week the shit is gonna hit the fan next week as you will see with next weeks trailer. (BELOW)  Also I definitly have to say I knew that the neighbor was a doll. Totally called that.  I am good.  I also have to say that I think the little lab assistant is my choice for helping the Agent Paul Ballard with clues.

Well that is my opinion take it for what it is worth and please feel free to check it out and comment below.

Finally Saw Religilious

Posted by Steve On March - 11 - 2009

religulousI started watching this movie some months ago from some unknown website that wanted me to pay to see more than an hour of it. So I waited for the DVD.  This is a must see for everyone that is not the faint of heart or easily offended.  Tell you the truth if you are offended by this film you are one of the people he interviews in it.

Bill Maher succeeded at finding every nut job religious freak and cooks of all ages.  Including the dumb ass Creationist with his museum of Dinosaurs walking with cavemen.  As you know are ancestors walked with the Dinosaurs in the short 5000 years of the Earths existence.  I found myself laughing from the very beginning right to the end.  Especially when he is talking to the PIMP ( evangelist minister wearing more money than any member of his congregation makes in a year ).  Bill Maher brings real truths to these zealots and they arbitrarily dismiss it with the tired Dogma they spew forth like it was fact.

I watched this film with folks who are BELIEVERS though they don’t attend church and even they were interested in what Bill Maher had to say right to the end.  I would also like to note they were appalled at the Florida circus attraction of religion land or whatever they called it.

I give it 5 out of 5.
